Complete Crypto Glossary
Complete Crypto Glossary A to Z | AceofCrypto
The Crypto Glossary You’ll Actually Use (Because You’re Tired of Googling “What’s Slippage?”)
Step into to the dark side.
Where everyone’s pretending to know what “TVL” means and you’re still stuck on “why is gas so damn high?”
It’s not your fault.
Crypto is a cult that speaks in acronyms and memes.
One minute you’re trying to buy Bitcoin, next thing you know, some guy on Discord is calling you an “NGMI paper-handed wagmi normie.”
What?
Exactly.
That’s why you need a glossary that cuts the crap and tells you what these terms actually mean, with no Web3 fluff, no corporate soft-glove definitions, and no influencer flexing his bags, throwing jargon in your face.
AceofCrypt’s decoding the crypto hive-mind.
These glossaries are what I recommend.
Read the full reviews, and jump right in.
Why You Need a Glossary in This Godforsaken Space
- So you don’t accidentally agree to a rug.
- So you stop pretending to know what “staking APY” really means.
- So you don’t embarrass yourself in a VC pitch by asking what an ICO is… in 2025.
Look, Google exists.
But most glossaries were written by interns who’ve never touched a wallet.
These five platforms? Different story.
They’re useful, well-stocked, and in some cases, accidentally hilarious.
Crypto Glossary Platforms That Won’t Make You Dumber
I’ll leave all the explaining to these sites.
But knowing them inside out only comes from reading the full reviews.
Go all out, but do it with a few brain cells intact.
1. CoinGecko – The Goblin Dictionary
You like chaos? CoinGecko’s glossary is like crypto Reddit with a thesaurus.
Everything’s in there, from “rekt” to “DAO” to “impermanent loss” (hint: it’s very permanent).
Why It Slaps:
- Tons of entries, updated constantly
- Community-driven slang + serious definitions
- Links to actual price pages if you wanna ape after reading
Why It Sucks:
- Feels like it was designed in 2013 and never updated
- Some definitions read like they were written mid-trade on 100x leverage
Ace’s Tip: Use it when you need to look up weird crypto slang, meme coins, or anything born from the mind of a Twitter degen.
2. CoinMarketCap – The Corporate Translator
This one reads like your teacher trying to explain crypto after bingeing CNBC.
Still solid, still deep, but definitely written with a tie on.
Why It Slaps:
- Huge glossary with both basics and technical lingo
- Clean UI, mobile friendly
- Includes charts and educational extras
Why It Sucks:
- “Slightly” boring
- Doesn’t cover community meme terms or Degen-ese
Ace’s Tip: Use this if you want to sound smart without going full Web3 buzzword salad. Good for whitepapers and explaining crypto to your boss.
3. Coinbase – Crypto Glossary for Normies
It’s Coinbase. Of course it’s safe. Of course it’s sanitized.
But hey, it gets the job done if you want to understand stuff like “wallet,” “block,” and “blockchain” without needing a nap.
Why It Slaps:
- Extremely beginner friendly
- Written for people who think “gas” is what goes in cars
- Pairs well with their learn-and-earn content
Why It Sucks:
- Too basic for anyone who’s been in crypto more than a week
- Doesn’t touch on DeFi, NFTs, or anything mildly degenerate
Ace’s Tip: Send this to your uncle after he hears about Bitcoin on CNN. Don’t use it to prep for your Solana yield farming thesis.
4. Binance Academy – Glossary With Bite
Binance doesn’t play.
Their glossary hits everything from DEX to zk-SNARKs to the difference between a rugpull and a soft rug.
Why It Slaps:
- Deep, wide, and genuinely helpful
- Has multi-language support for global degens
- Embedded links to deeper articles when you wanna nerd out
Why It Sucks:
- Sometimes explains things like it’s a TED talk, not a glossary
- Not great on community slang or current memes
Ace’s Tip: Use it if you’re leveling up. It’s a glossary for degens who started reading whitepapers instead of white lies on Twitter.
5. Crypto.com – Glossary for the App Addict
Crypto.com stays in your pocket, so does their glossary.
Built into their app and site, this glossary gives you snappy, readable definitions that don’t make you feel like an idiot.
Why It Slaps:
- Mobile-first layout
- Covers hot trends, like “Layer 2,” “airdrops,” and “CBDC”
- Very copy-paste-able for explaining things to friends
Why It Sucks:
- Missing some niche DeFi/NFT terms
- Sometimes feels like it was written by marketing (because it was)
Ace’s Tip: Use it when you’re multitasking, buying SHIB while learning what “slippage” means. Good times.
5 Terms No One Taught You But Everyone Uses
- “WAGMI” – We’re All Gonna Make It. Usually said moments before we absolutely don’t.
- “TVL” – Total Value Locked. Fancy way of saying “how much money is in the casino.”
- “Rugpull” – When the devs vanish and your tokens turn to dust.
- “Slippage” – The reason you bought $100 of ETH but only got $92.50.
- “Impermanent Loss” – It’s permanent. Stop lying to yourself.
Ace’s Personal Glossary Setup
- CoinGecko – For decoding degen slang mid-shill.
- Binance Academy – For real learning, not influencer fluff.
- Coinbase Glossary – For sending to people who just found out Dogecoin isn’t a joke.
- CoinMarketCap – For terms used in charts, whitepapers, and SEC reports.
- Crypto.com – For scrolling definitions while staking something you don’t understand.
Crypto Ain’t Complicated, Just Gatekept
Every industry has its jargon.
But crypto takes it, tokenizes it, and sells it back to you at a 3x markup.
With the right glossary, you’re outpacing half the influencers.
Know the terms. Speak the lingo. Decode the hype.
And next time someone throws “HODL” in a sentence, you’ll know exactly when to laugh, or walk away.
AceofCrypto out.
If you don’t learn the language, you’ll get lost in the cult.
Know your terms. Or become one.
CoinGecko provides a fundamental analysis of the crypto market. In addition to tracking price, volume and market capitalisation, CoinGecko tracks community growth, open-source code development, major events and on-chain metrics.
